The Kansas City Star has chosen to charge for past articles about
anything. If you have an account with them, feel free to search their
archives. Otherwise I am unable to link to any articles that the Kansas
City Star may or may not have on line... nor can I even read them... as I do not
wish to pay for old news.

It should be noted that on November 6, 2007 the voters of both
Independence and Kansas City overwhelmingly approved the move of seven (7)
schools out of the Kansas City School District into the Independence School
District. One of those schools was Van Horn High School. After all these years
VH will now be an Independence School... where it has been sitting since it
was born. The unofficial vote in Independence was 10,173 for, 1,918 against
and Kansas City was 13,576 for, 7,015 against. Please read the online news
stories as appropriate for more info. It is indicated that the change will
take place after the current school year.
