Bio | AVID ALAN HUMPHREY David Alan Humphrey, 57, of Independence, Mo., passed July 18, 2024. He was born May 21, 1967. At three months old he came home to wonderful parents Kenneth and Doris and brother Richard on September 5, 1967. David, aka Humpo, graduated Van Horn High School class of 1985. He became a wonderful father at the age of 19 to many and an even better grandfather. He was known to his grandkids as Papa Dave, Papa Bear, or simply Bear. He lead an adventurous and crazy life, always wanting to go fast. He lived for his children, friends, and anything with a motor. He loved fiercely and always told people how he felt, whether it be good or bad. He's preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Doris Humphrey; daughter Calle Abernathey, and nephew Levi Newlon. David leaves behind and lovingly remembered by his love, Andrea Abernathey of the home, brother Richard (Sophie) Humphrey, children Ricky Henson, Krystal (Paul) Jenkins, Elias (Jordyn) Humphrey, Denver Humphrey, Cyrus Humphrey, Dustyn Wolf, Ashley (Chris) Hunt, Cameron (Megan) Abernathey, Angel Dreisbach, Joshua Wyzard, Alicia Henson; mothers of his children, Tracy Henson, Tina Humphrey; sisters, Ginny Henson, Danielle Taylor, Michelle Humphrey; nieces, Haleigh (James) Barker, Savanna Roland; nephews, Jordan Newlon, Harrison Humphrey, Terran Smith; and 18 grandchildren. Celebration of Life Saturday, August 10 from 1 - 3 p.m. at The Good Shepherd Community of Christ, 4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Please wear purple to honor David.
