Jack graduated from Van Horn High School in 1982, where he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. His passion for sports extended beyond the field-he played a pivotal role in leading his team to a championship as a fullback and defensive player. His athletic talent earned him a place at Northwest Missouri State University, where he continued his football career as a cornerback and contributed to another championship victory. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1986.
Following college, Jack embarked on a career that reflected his commitment to service and community. He began working at the U.S. Census Bureau in Kansas City before dedicating two decades of his life as an educator and counselor in the Kansas City School District. His work touched countless lives during those years, offering guidance and support to students across the district. Jack later brought his talents to KU Medical Center and eventually joined the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he remained employed until his passing.
On April 4, 1992, Jack married Donna Dumas. Together, they built a loving family that includes their children: Jack Edward Greer IV, Elisa M. Greer, and JaDon A. Greer.
Jack is also remembered by his siblings Patricia Ann Greer-Trice (Trolynn), Teresa Abernathy, Tony Greer (Marietta), Wayne Greer (Tina), and Derrick Greer (Sonja). He held a special bond with his aunt Etta Ayers-Coaster (Aunt Belle). Aunt Belle was the reason why Jack's siblings called Kansas City their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Edward Greer Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Whitley-Greer.
