Bio | Jim G. Willis, 53, of Independence, MO, passed away on May 30, 2015.
Family will greet friends from 6:30pm-8:30pm Friday, June 5, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 11:00am at Speaks Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Luncheon and fellowship will follow the committal ceremony.
Jim was born on May 4, 1962 to Jim and Nancy (Sheridan) Willis. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, and graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1980. From a young age, he found his passion in God, family, cars, and friends. He loved taking old cars and transforming them into hot rods/street machines. He was even featured in Hot Rod Magazine for his amazing blind car skills. He enjoyed his dogs, his oldies, and adored his wife and daughter, Debbie and Julie. He considered his friends like family and loved them all so very much. Jim was a man of faith, and lived for serving the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie; brother, David; and his parents, Jim and Nancy. Jim is survived by his wife and daughter, Debbie and Julie Willis; sisters Rhonda Ravenscroft and Sandra Griffin; Stepson, Josh Hudson; grandchildren, Landon, Maddox, and Adley; (who affectionately called Jim “Papa Cool Breeze”), nieces and nephews: Tristan Ravenscroft, Shawn Worley, Angela Vaughn, Josh Worley, Jeremy Willis, and Johnathan Willis; and cousins: Brenda, Frank, Pam, Trina, Kim, DeLisa, and Nick. He also loved his three dogs, Jake, Tucker, and Joker. He will be greatly missed.
