Bio     James W. "Jim" Bales, Jr., 58, Blue Springs, MO passed away December 1, 2018. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 8 at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 SE 14 St, Oak Grove, MO 64075; cremation. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 E 42nd St S #600, Independence, MO 64055. Jim was born July 9, 1960 in Santa Monica, CA and graduated from Van Horn High School in the Class of 1979. He worked at Southern Carlson for seven years before working for the Blue Springs School District. He was a very active member of the church where he was involved in the Tuesday Night Men's Group, his Sunday School class, volunteered at Vacation Bible School and helped with AWANAS – a youth Bible Study. He was a collector of pocket knives and enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending his grandkids' sporting events. He was a booster of Blue Springs South Volleyball. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Jim Bales, Sr. and Betty Bales and grandson Jordan. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years Becky Bales, of the home; son Jake Bales and wife Jenny, Oak Grove, MO; daughter Kayla O'Bryan and husband Anthony, Blue Springs, MO; sister Debbie Lewis and husband Larry, Independence, MO; step-mother Joyce Bales, Tifton, GA and grandchildren Austen, Jayden, Sophia, Alexis, Amery, Karli, Alex and Cole. Jerry is a VH Alumni (1960) and will be gifting a Falcon sculpture he created to VH at this time. All school alumni are welcome to attend.
