Bio     MOORHOUSE Judge Kelly Jean Moorhouse was born on June 13, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended Van Horn High School. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981 and earned her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1985. Kelly practiced law for 10 years and became a Jackson County Family Court Commissioner in 1995, and was then appointed a Circuit Court Judge in 2000. She was an active member of the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit. How do you put beauty, light, and joy in black and white? Kelly was a cherished mother, wife, daughter, sister, family member, friend and avid Chiefs fan (even this year). Among Kelly's strengths were her compassion and concern for others – she lived her life by asking one question, "Is it good for the children?" This passion began with her family and spread into every facet of her being. Judge Moorhouse enriched the spirit of those around her and was always ready to counsel or help those in need. She found the best in everyone and lived each moment with a smile. We have all benefited from and been blessed by her presence. Kelly inspired us all to do better - to think about what you would normally do - then do better. Kelly was one of a kind. Kelly passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 7th. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Scott, daughters, Gracen and Jordan, her parents, Jackie and Ron Stalker, her brothers, Randy (Karen) and Mark Stalker, mother and father-in- law, Pat and Bob Moorhouse, sister-in- law, Carrie (John) Moore, brother-in- law, Mark (Angela) Moorhouse, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Madison. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11th, 10:00 a.m., at the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. Kelly will be dearly missed by all who knew her; however, her warmth, her smile, and her eyes will be kept in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Woods Chapel United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. We are all better for having known her.
