Barbara Kaye Kleoppel, 66, of Independence, MO passed away October 9, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a long hard fought battle with Aphasia.
Barbara was born December 5, 1958 in Independence, MO to William and Betty (Salyer) Kleoppel. She grew up in Independence, MO and graduated from Van Horn HighSchool in 1977. She worked at GEHA as a data clerk for many years.
Barbara enjoyed photography, playing softball and volleyballand loved her cats and listening to music. She enjoyed being at the farm, camping, fishing, and being with family and friends. Her nieces enjoy telling the story of her “clown car” where she would pull out tiki torches, lawn chairs, fishing poles, a canopy and even a lawn mower, wondering how she fit it all in that little trunk. She babysat her nieces and nephews, watching Casper and letting them duct tape her to a chair, learning and being quizzed on all the care bears names, and having every barrette she owned put in her hair then bravely answering the door for the pizza delivery.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bill Kleoppel, brother-in-law Larry Lampton. She is survived by her brothers: Paul Kleoppel (Brenda), Jeff Kleoppel (Carla); sisters: Mary Lampton, Sue Jasper (Gerald); and twelve nieces and nephews.
Jeff and Carla would like to extend special thanks for the kindness and support of Barbara’s good friends Diane and John, Susan Mercer, and Susan Toia. They continued to show up for Barbara, and us, when it was the hardest and when they were needed the most.
