Bio     Christine Hanes November 25, 1958 — October 24, 2024 Christine Ruth Hanes (Clark), 65, was called to her heavenly home on October 24th, 2024. Christine was born November 25, 1958 to Glen and Elizabeth Clark. She graduated from Van Horn High School, Independence, MO in 1977. In school she loved choir, was choir president and was a part of Van Horn’s literary society (Thala Phi). She attended Wendy Ward Charm School and even won an award for etiquette. Her first job was at Montgomery Wards where she found she had a gift for customer service. This would lead to a long career of taking care of customers. When given the opportunity, she showed a true knack for sales like her father. She met Tucky Hanes and they married in 1980, though their marriage wasn’t meant to last, they both agree their son, Michael was the best thing that came from their time together. She was the life of the party and could make everyone laugh so effortlessly. Christine always wanted everyone to be together and looked forward to her high school reunions. She had what her friends called an “elephant memory” and could remember the smallest of details about anything even if it happened over 30 years ago. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was president, girl of the year, and Valentine queen. When she was young, she was an avid bowler and a part of many bowling leagues. Watching the Kansas City Chiefs with her son while eating chips and cheese dip was one of her favorite traditions. She was great at sewing, cross stitching, and crocheting. She loved the beach and enjoyed her trips to Florida, Hawaii, and Turks and Caicos. Like her mother, Christine was a giving person and was always thinking of others and their needs. Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Elizabeth Clark, and her brother in-law Larry Rowe. She is survived by her pride and joys: son Michael Hanes, daughter in-law Amanda Hanes and favorite grandson Liam Hanes. Her sisters Sally Rowe, Karen Wright and husband Charles Wright, nephew Kendrick Brown, nieces Corina Rowe, Allison Hanig and husband Harrison Hanig, and her great nieces and nephews, Desiree Brown, Madison Holtzhauer, Emma Brown, Maxwell Holtzhauer, Aaidyn Brown and Nikolaus Hanig. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Olathe Hospice House in memory of Christine. Visitation will be at 10:00am, November 9th, 2024, with a service at 11:00am at Penwell-Gable Funeral Home, Olathe, KS.
