Darrell E Driskell, 65, of Independence, MO entered into his heavenly home on Monday, September 4, 2023.
Mr. Driskell was born March 27, 1958, in Independence, MO and a life long resident. He was a member of Maywood Baptist Church and a graduate of Van Horn High School. Mr. Driskell was employed at Burns & McDonnell until being hired by Ferguson Drywall Co. and later started his own drywall construction company. Later Mr. Driskell was a sales rep for 31W Insulation, Oak Grove, MO until he suffered a stroke in 2010.
Baseball was Darrell’s passion, but he also enjoyed bowling, softball, basketball, volleyball, and golf. Involvement in sports was his life, so much so that he began umpiring Queen City Baseball Bantam league games in high school and later began officiating basketball games across the KC Metro. He enjoyed coaching his sons and was founder of the Diamond Kings Baseball Club for 4 different age brackets. Mr. Driskell also served as an “official assigner” scheduling referees in the conference games & tournaments. Darrell also was president of Van Horn High School Booster Club from 2008-2010.
Survivors include his wife, Kelli, of the home; son Zachary of Independence, MO; son, Aaron, daughter-in-law Katrina, and granddaughter Rowyn of Oak Grove, MO; brother Doug and sister-in-law Arlene of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother Kevin and sister-in-law Becky of Grain Valley, MO; brother-in-law Curt Douglas of Lee’s Summit, MO; 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Joyce Driskell, sister Julie Douglas, and sister-in-law Kim Driskell.
A visitation will take place on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Speaks Suburban Chapel from 4:30-6:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow immediately at 6:00 p.m.
