Joseph George Markovich, 66, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away August 29, 2023, with family at his side.
Joe was born July 24, 1957, in Independence, MO, the son of Joseph and Susie (Haluska) Markovich. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a baby sister. Joe grew up in Sugar Creek, MO and graduated from Van Horn High School. He served four years active duty and two years reserve duty in the US Coast Guard, receiving honorable discharge December 21, 1982. Joe was united in marriage to Lisa Marie Elliott on May 16, 1981, and they were blessed with two children and four granddaughters. He was a lifelong Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lisa; children, Joshua Markovich (Megan) and Jordan Mock; granddaughters, Stella and Lennox Markovich, and Zoey and Piper Mock; brother, John Markovich (Belinda); brother-in-law, Larry Elliott (Debbie); aunt, Sheila Koetting, (Bernie), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 5, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 6, at Resurrection Cemetery, 5001 NE Cookingham Road, Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice or to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Research Medical Center.
