Bio | Richard F. "Rick" Campbell, 43, Oak Grove, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, after a two year battle with cancer. Mr. Campbell was born July 21, 1957, in Independence and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a 1975 graduate of Van Horn High School. He was in the Military Police for the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne for three years and was a parachute rigger for seven years. He had been employed by the Independence Police Department since 1985, and in his career as a police officer, he was a police sniper for the Special Response Team, and most recently served as a detective. He was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1. His survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Campbell, and a son, Clinton D. Reighard, both of the home; two daughters, Jacqueline N. Reighard, of the home, and Jamie M. Campbell, Independence; a grandson, Payton Alex Reighard; his mother, Mrs. Alice Zumwalt, Independence; two brothers, Chuck M. Davis, Camdenton, Mo., and Kenneth Campbell Sr., Roach, Mo.; a sister, Patricia A. Schulte, and an aunt, Gladys Green, both of Independence. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Noland Road Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
