| Bio | Debra Lorraine Rich, 59, passed away on Apr. 22, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 27, at 2pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence. Family will greet friends from 12pm-2pm Wednesday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to Phoenix Family, a local organization, in her memory. Debra was born on May 18, 1956, in Clanton, AL, to Gerald and Norma Jean (Glass) Johansen. She grew up in Independence, and graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1974. She married Steven Rich in 1978 – to this union were born two children. She spent 30 years working for AT&T. Debra was a very dedicated worker, but loved to spend relaxing weekends on her sister's farm in the country. She was strong and stubborn, loyal and patient. Debra is survived by her family: husband of 38 years, Steven; son, Erin Rich (wife, Lindsay); daughter, Stacy Rich; father, Gerald Johansen; sister, Carla Zackula (husband, Kris); many nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-puppies, Beni, Remi, and Buddy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Johansen; sister, Marsha Billuris; brother, Michael Johansen; and nephew, Jeffery Billuris. I was married to Steve Rich (Truman HS 1975) in April 1978, we have 2 children a boy and a girl. We live in Independence and have for 20 years. I work at AT&T in Kansas City and have been working there for 28 years. Steve and I enjoy traveling and having a good time with our family and friends. We hope to retire and live at the lake of the Ozarks. I still would like to communicate and socialize with my classmates so, send me a message!
2007 update...
Still married to Steve, the kids have left the nest so, we are beginning to remind ourselves and to remember what brought us together in the first place. We are taking cruises and I am now retired from AT&T. |
