| Bio | After 25 years of classroom teaching and school administration for Lutheran Schools in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri, I began service as Director of Education and Youth at Christ Lutheran Church--Platte Woods, MO. I continue serving in this position to the present. I remain active in the Boy Scouts of America, primarily with Troop 303 in the North Star District. My wife, Mary, and I are in the process of "sending-off" our five children, one at a time. Our oldest, Anna, lives in downtown KC and serves as office manager for Graves, Marcus, Bartle, LLC. Our second child, Rachel, is a business student at Park University. Matthew is an education major at Concordia University-Seward, NE (Dad and Mom's Alma Mater) where he plays collegiate basketball. Joshua attends Lutheran HS of Kansas City where he runs cross country and track, and plays soccer. Our fifth child, Mark, attends Martin Luther Academy as a middle grader. I wish I would have been more intentional about keeping in touch with '74 classmates, attending more reunions, and generally been more available to others. I am happy for the fresh-start Van Horn is receiving which will benefit many families, but feel blessed to have been able to send my own children to Lutheran Schools where they have grown, not only academically, but spiritually too.
