Bio | Laurie A. Barker-Holman, 39, died at the home on December 24, 1995, and entered into the kingdom of God. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, at Cornerstone Church, Blue Springs; followed by graveside services at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, MO. The family requests no flowers. Please make donations to the Dr. Laurie Barker-Holman Fund, in care of Boatmen's Bank. Laurie was born and lived her life in the Independence area. She attended Van Horn High School. She was married on August 27, 1983. She graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1983. She was a certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, member of the American Chiropractic Association and was previously a member of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association. Laurie was the 33rd person in the U.S. awarded the Diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists. She had a thriving chiropractic practice in Independence and helped many people with her skill and compassion. She was a member of Cornerstone Church, Blue Springs, MO. Laurie was co-owner, with her husband, of the Pink Hill Emu Ranch; and was State Representative of the Missouri Emu Association, Zone 2. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Barker, in 1994. Surviviors include her husband, John S. Holman and her two daughters, Katelyn Marie and Kristen Leigh, all of the home; her mother, Betty Barker, Independence, MO; sister Jacquelyn Adams, Orlando, FL; three brothers, Ronald Barker, KC, Larry Barker, Midlothan, VA, Jeffrey Barker, Independence Published The KC Star 12-25-1995 |
