Bio | On Friday, May 26, 2017 Garland R. Sigmon husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 61. Garland will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Ruthie, children Darren, Jeremy, Cynthia and Jeff, grandchildren Shannon, Trent, Hannah and Abigail, his sister Nancy, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Garland graduated from Van Horn High School Class of ’74. In 1976, he began his career in the Water and Waste Water Industry with Layne Western. In 2000, Garland took part in starting his own company in the water industry called Alliance Pump. He took great pride in his work and company with a career that lasted 41 years. He left a legacy with everyone that he worked with, for and taught that will be passed on through generations to come. Garland had a smile that would light up the room and a sense of humor like no other. Known by his family and friends as “always the life of the party”. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all. A Celebration of Garland’s life will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 2 pm, with a visitation from 1-2 at the New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, Missouri.
