Bio | Joseph M. "Joe" Mikula, 50, of Sugar Creek, MO, passed away Mon, May 07, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Memorial visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Fri, May 11, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A Tribe of Mic-O-Say Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts, 10210 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131 attn: Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Joe was born June 9, 1956 in Independence, MO to Andrew J. and Mary L. (Cogan) Mikula, Jr. He loved his family dearly, especially his three grandchildren. Mr. Mikula retired from Honeywell after 28 years of service in 2004. Joe began his scouting adventure at the age of 8. He joined the Tribe of Mic-O-Say at the age of 14. Joe achieved the rank of Eagle in 1971. As an adult scouter he was honored with the rank of Sachem in the tribe, earning the Award of Merit, Bronze Pelican and the St. George Award. He served on the staff at H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp for numerous summers. Spending many years at camp with his son. He was instrumental in building the Catholic Chapel at H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp. Joe was honored as an outstanding citizen by the City of Sugar Creek with the Missouri Municipal League in 1999. He also served on the Sugar Creek Fair and Festival Committee and was a certified KCBS BBQ judge. Mr. Mikula is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sue Ellen (McBee) Mikula; son Dennis Mikula Sr. and wife Barbara; grandchildren Chris, Katie, and Dennis Jr. (DJ); father Andrew J. Mikula Jr.; sister Rosemary Dotson; brother Bill Mikula; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mary L. Mikula in 1985.
