Bio | Robert “Bob” Patrick Lackland Sr., age 53 of Peculiar, Missouri lost a five-year battle with cancer Wednesday, August 5, 2009, in Peculiar. He was born March 2, 1956, to Robert Elliot Jr. and Eleanor Conner Lackland in Kansas City, Mo. Bob, one of four children, grew up in Appleton City, Mo., and Independence, Mo. He attended Van Horn High School in Independence. Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On February 11, 1997, he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Tremaine in Miami, Okla. Bob worked at the Ameristar Casino, formerly called Stations Casino, as facilities manager for 12 years before retiring in November of 2008 due to failing health. Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie Lackland of Peculiar, Mo.; three sons, Robert Lackland Jr. and fiancé Jenn Wynn of Independence, Mo., Dustin DeShazer and wife Renee of Archie, Mo., and Trevor DeShazer of Independence, Mo.; three daughters, Shannon Lackland of Independence, Mo., Carissa Riga of Peculiar, Mo., and Amber DeShazer and fiancé Robb Howe of Independence, Mo.; two stepsons, Robert Givens and wife Michelle of Harrisonville, Mo., and Christopher Givens and wife Annie of Jadwin, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Julia Givens of Chillicothe, Mo.; one brother, David Lackland and wife Kathy of Grain Valley, Mo.; two sisters, Gail Gargotta and husband Jim of Blue Springs, Mo., and Cathy Burnam of Oak Grove, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, 660- 679-6555, in Butler, Mo. Visitation, prior to services from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Schowengerdt Chapel.
