Bio | Joseph Andrew "Joe" Gensor 1956 - 2021 Joseph Gensor Obituary GENSOR, Joseph "Joe" Andrew In Memoriam Joseph "Joe" Andrew Gensor The man, The Myth, The Analytical Legend, left this earthly realm in search of a new "deal" on March 3, 2021. His loving wife and soulmate of 15 years, Eda, was by his side when he passed into the great unknown. Born August 16, 1956, to Joe Gensor and Mary Alice Roberts, he grew up in Sugar Creek, Missouri. Joe went to the University of Missouri, UMKC and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, followed by a Master of Business Administration in 1981, and quickly moved into his career in commercial finance. He worked at several large firms, including ITT Commercial Finance, Transamerica Commercial Finance, GE Capital, AIG and, finally, Wintrust Commercial Finance (WCF) where he served as Senior Vice President of Credit. Joe amassed a great deal of knowledge over his 40 years in the industry and his vast experience in the field coupled with his tenacious can do attitude and strong work ethic made him well known, as well as admired and respected by his peers in the world of commercial finance. Joe met his wife and soulmate Eda in 2006. They were a perfect match, and he admired Eda's independent nature, intellect, and love for animals and the environment. Joe also truly loved animals, both domestic and wildlife. During their marriage, Joe and Eda spent time traveling around the United States and internationally, exploring each place they visited through cultural sites, eating at local restaurants and shopping. Joe had impeccable taste and an eye for fashion, so international travel suited him well. The pair also lived life to the fullest by taking in the beauty around them at art festivals and galleries, museums, theatre, concerts, car shows, and even pet parades. Joe was a man who loved keeping busy. When he wasn't doing research for his latest deal for work, he was reading business articles, doing his homework on future market investments, or reading one of the two or three books he had on his iPad or iPhone. As an avid reader he had extensive knowledge about a wide variety of topics such as science, technology, politics, and world news. Conversations with Joe were always very interesting, engaging, informative, and quite entertaining. In addition to exercising his mind, Joe was an active person and enjoyed working out on the elliptical, with weights, and taking long walks or rides daily. Before moving to Texas, he lived in Kansas and for a number of years participated in the annual Biking Across Kansas tour. Joe was a remarkable human being who cared deeply for everyone in his life. He was extremely intelligent with an analytical mind. He was humble and didn't take himself too seriously. His sense of humor was stellar and he was also generous to a fault. He gave without ever being asked or expecting anything in return. He loved being with family and friends and believed that is what makes any experience in life worthwhile. His light burned brightly and his energy and zest for life was contagious. He was a colorful character with a heart of gold. A loving son, spouse, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Joe was a truly good person with a beautiful soul who has left a lasting impression on each of us and will be greatly missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Gensor and Mary Alice Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Eda; his step children, Christian Lucciano (Angela), Elizabeth Marvel (Brad Kershner), Rachel Bibb (Owen); his step grandchildren, Anthony, Christian (Joanie), Georgia, Charlotte, and John; and step great-grandchildren Rayni and Roman. His sister, Mary Ann Johnson (Steve); his brother, Tom Gensor; his aunts, Judy Hall and Patty Grisnik; as well as various cousins, nieces and nephews.
