| Bio | Michael Gene Baker September 23, 1956 — August 8, 2016 Michael Gene Baker, 59 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at Ashton Court Rehabilitation Center in Liberty. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at the chapel. Donations may be made to Wayside Waifs. Mike was born September 23, 1956 in Independence, MO to Gene W. and Helen (Dumstay) and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked in the trim department at the GM Fairfax Plant for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, word puzzles, watching Western movies, BBQ, Joel Osteen ministries and, at one time, was a very good baseball pitcher. He was a member of Maywood Baptist Church and the Local #31 UAW. Survivors include; a daughter, Angela K. Baker; his mother, Helen Baker; a sister, Pamela Baker- Beaty; a brother, Mark Baker; 2 grandchildren, Alana Nicole Cofer-Collins and Braxton Paige Jarowitz; a nephew, Christopher Baker and a niece Ashley Baker.
