Bio | Scott Edward Slinker, of Gravois Mills, was born Jan. 16, 1955, and died Nov. 3, 2010 of heart attack. He was the owner and operator of Scotty's Welding Shop in Laurie. Before moving the to the lake area, Scott was member of the United State Marine Corps from July 1973 to July 1979, when he was honorably discharged as an E6 sergeant. During his time in the military, he served as the Admiral's orderly for the commander of the Mediterranean fleet. He loved to travel, going to nearly every city he could think of. Even after his military service, he continued to travel the world for fun and for work. While living at the lake, he loved fishing and hunting. Family members said he would look long and hard, driving long-term, looking for the ideal place to fish. Scott is survived by his three step-children: Tony Corona, of Stover; Joseph Corona, of Angleton, Tx; and Jennifer Corona, of Houston, Tx. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lou Oldham, of Nov. 7, 2004, and his mother and father. A memorial service will be held Sun., Nov. 14, from noon-3 p.m. at the American Legion in Sunrise Beach, 852 American Legion Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. |
