Bio | It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of James Michael Shoemaker on February 29th, 2024. Michael was a devoted husband, caring father and grandfather, generous friend, and adventurous spirit. He left this world suddenly at the age of 69. Michael was born January 6th, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. Michael loved music, playing and watching sports, and working on cars with his dad, Jim. He became father to Jennifer and Jami before beginning his almost twenty year career with Trans World Airlines. Traveling the globe with his job, Michael loved seeing new places and taking his daughters on adventures. It was through his travels that he met the love of his life, Janet. They were lucky enough to have spent over 33 years married to one another. Michael loved all sports, but enjoyed baseball most of all. Many days were spent at the ballpark with his family and friends. Michael loved visiting his daughters, son-in-laws, and grandchildren in Colorado. His dog Zeus held a special place in Michael's heart as well. In the last several years of his life, Michael and Jan served faithfully for the Hamburg Lions Club. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jan, his two daughters and son-in-laws; Jennifer & Justin Borsheim and Jami & Nick Miller, as well as his six grandchildren; Jacob, Jaxin, Josiah, Jineva, Adelaide, and Olive. Michael is preceded in death by his father and mother; Jim and Louise Shoemaker and his grandson, Beckett Miller. At his request, no memorial service will take place.
