Bio     Cheryl Ann Crist, 51, of Lone Jack, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the First Baptist Church, Oak Grove; burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Cheryl was born on June 30, 1955, in Independence, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Hollis (Jones) Salyer. She graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence and Wabash Community College in Illinois. Cheryl married Charles Donald Crist, Jr. on May 2, 1980. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Underwood Elementary in Lee's Summit. Cheryl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and a former member of Oak Wood Baptist Church in Lee's Summit. Her father and a sibling, Tom Salyer, preceded her in death. Her survivors include her husband of 27 years, Don Crist of the home; daughter Cristi Fortner and husband Jason of Blue Springs; stepsons Donnie Crist of Grain Valley and Jason Crist and wife Lori of Grain Valley; her mother, Hollis Salyer of Independence; sisters Jan Mammen of Blue Springs and Rose Wingate of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother Roger Salyer and wife Dott of Lee's Summit and grandchildren Charli, Meah, Jake and Kale. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend to all who knew her. She was always more concerned with the needs of others than her own. Her love of God and her family was her strength and shield. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Published in the Kansas City Star on 5/11/2007.
