Living in Independence again in the family home after nearly 20 years North of the River (NKC, KC North, Liberty). Lost my father in March, 1976 to a stroke, and, most recently, my mother, in November, 2001, to Alzheimer's. Began my career immediately out of high school with the Marine Corps Finance Center, and then worked for four years for Waddell & Reed, Inc. (mutual funds/stocks & bonds) while attending college CMSU, Penn Valley, UMKC). Later attended Maple Woods Community College. Have worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District since 1978, in the Contracting, Real Estate, Emergency Management, Engineering & Construction and Equal Employment Opportunity arenas. The Corps is the Nation's architects and builders. On the personal home front, I have recently refurbished my Arts & Crafts home (restored hardwood flooring, re-painted, enclosed the front porch, replaced furnishings with period pieces) and have maintained and increased the landscaping (koi pond, decks, pergolas) Next is the garage conversion! Have become the "Cruise King" in recent years, having travelled the Caribbean extensively (as far south as Caracas, Venezuela) and the Mexican Riviera. Have travelled on Celebrity, Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Costa and the now defunct (thank the gods) Cape Canaveral Cruise Lines. Have also travelled in 29 of the 50 States (including Hawaii), and still counting. Well wishes to all. |
