Bio     Neil, 63, Lee’s Summit, passed Feb. 8, 2017. He was born on Dec. 22, 1953, in Independence, Mo. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1973. He got his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He married Julie Schmidt in 1979. They had two children, Kelly and Thomas. Neil spent his career working for several architectural firms in the Kansas City area before he started his own business specializing in churches. One of the highlights of his career was designing the new sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit. Neil was active in Raytown Rotary and Lees’s Summit Rotary, boasting 23 years of perfect attendance. He was a Past President of Raytown Rotary and was Past Asst. Governor of District 6040. He also served as President of Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club (OWWC) and enjoyed being outside fishing, camping, and canoeing. He was an assistant leader in Boy Scouts. Neil was a member of the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a FOG elder. Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Marilyn Minter, a sister, Mary Lynn Spencer, and a brother, Chris Minter. Survivors include his wife Julie, daughter, Kelly Bosley (Ryan), a son, Thomas Minter (Rachel Prescott), and brother, Dan Minter (Janet). He had one granddaughter, Julianne Bosley. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 NW O’Brien Road, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64081. 5/1/2024 / 1:00:00 PM - Jerry R. Williams, nationally recognized sculptor, artist and Professor Emeritus, University of Oregon will make a major gift to Van Horn High School. Jerry is a VH Alumni (1960) and will be gifting a Falcon sculpture he created to VH at this time. All school alumni are welcome to attend.
