Bio | A 23-year-old Kansas City man injured in an early morning traffic accident April 7, 1979 near Camdenton, MO.; died Tuesday, April 22, 1979 at the University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia, MO. The Missouri Highway Patrol said the victim was Ronald Leroy Crain Jr., 8900 E. 23rd. The patrol said Crain was a passenger in a southbound pickup truck when the truck skidded off the left side of the road and hit a tree. The crash occurred about 6 a.m. on Route F about 2½ miles south of Missouri Highway 5. The driver, Archie Christian, 20, Independence, and another passenger, Ms. Marlese Edwards, 25, Grain Valley, were treated at the medical center. Mr. Crain was born in Lebanon, MO., and had lived in the Independence area most of his life. He had been a machinist’s helper for the St. Regis Paper Co. about three years. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald L Crain Jr,; a brother, Alan Crain; and a sister Miss Debra Crain, all of 11601 Circle Drive, Sugar Creek; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Crain, Camdenton, MO.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mattie West, Independence.
