Bio     Bonnie Ruth Torp, 66, died on October 15, 2019. She was born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Independence and was a graduate of Van Horn High School. Bonnie had faced many physical challenges since birth; her early years were particularly difficult with many surgeries and hospitalizations, but she maintained a cheerful outlook and persevered through it all. As an adult, the frequent doctor appointments were simply social events on her calendar; she loved greeting all the staff she'd grown to know over the years. Bonnie was proud of her years of employment at Baptist Hospital and seemingly knew, remembered, and recognized every single person who worked there at the same time! She had an uncanny ability to remember names and faces. She enjoyed puzzles, babies, and traveling, but her passion was her cats. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and her friends there have been a true blessing to her. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruth Torp; her brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Ann Torp; and her nephews, Jim Torp and Michael Thomason. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Jim Thomason; her niece, Susan Torp; and nephews: Bob Torp, Jeff, Brian, and Steve Thomason, and cousins. She leaves many friends, but her family is especially grateful to Edmund and Helen Seve for their kindness to Bonnie over the years. Services will be Saturday, October 19 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Independence. The Rosary will begin at 9:45am, followed by a 10:00am visitation and an 11:00am Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bonnie requested memorial contributions be made to St. Mark Catholic Church.
