Bio | Mark Erkenbeck "Skates" Born January 5, 1954, Independence, Mo., attended Van Horn High School, fondly known as Skates, the Roller Skating Conga Player in the Westport area. His philosophy of life was "give more than you take." He lived by his philosophy and lived life to the fullest. After years of fighting liver cancer, it took his life on October 5, 2009. He is survived by his loving fiancee, Nancy Bach, sister, Chris Erkenbeck, and cousin, Lee Cruise. He was preceded by his parents, Jacqueline Erkenbeck-Smith and Richard Erkenbeck. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in parking Lot "L" on the east side of Royals Stadium, accessed from the main entrance. Donations for Memorial and Royals engraved paving brick will be graciously received by Nancy Bach, 4008 Terrace, KCMO 64111. May Mark rest in peace and his memory continue to roll on.
