Bio | Terry Eugene DeRossett, 57, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home with his fiance by his side, Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Terry was born March 16, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Truman DeRossett of Eldon, MO, and Maxine (Calton) DeRossett of Versailles, MO. Terry lived in the Independence / Blue Springs area most of his life, as well as residing a few years in Dallas, TX in the early 80s. Terry will be remembered for his zeal for life, ready smile, tender heart, and pride in his family, work, and sports accomplishments. Terry worked as a skilled jeweler, most recently as The Jewelry Doctor at The Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, KS. Terry was a gifted athlete in baseball and bowling in particular, and a fan of baseball and football. Survivors include Terry’s fiance, Cathy Matlock, who was his high school sweetheart and with whom he found great contentment at the end of his life. He is also survived by two sisters and their spouses and one nephew; Jeff & Debbie Huffman of Lenexa, KS and their son Eric Huffman, and Sam & Renee Snead of Independence, MO. Terry leaves behind several aunts and uncles; Wanda & Robert Coffman of Eldon, MO, Larry & Connie DeRossett of CA, Betty Calton of MO, and Grover & Carolyn Calton of MO, as well as many cousins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Royers Funeral Home of Blue Springs, 205 S.W. 17th Street, Blue Springs, MO. Friends may call before the ceremony at 12:30 p.m., at the funeral home for visitation. Interment will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses. |
