Bio     Carl Brent Thomas, age 62, of 2130 Aldo Blvd., Quincy, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at 6:51 pm in his home in the loving care of his wife and family. Brent was born September 28, 1952 in Pittsfield, Illinois, the son of Carl and Donna Musgrave Thomas. He married Janet Scoggan on December 21, 2012 in Quincy. She survives. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, working at a Hospital in San Diego. Brent was a heavy equipment operator for numerous large construction projects. Later, he owned the A-1 Sandblasting in Baylis, Illinois. Brent attended St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He was heavily involved with Harley Davidson Motorcyles, and loved doing carpentry, woodworking, and gardening. In addition to his wife, Brent is survived by a daughter, Tracy Thomas of Kansas City, MO; a stepson, Richard Scoggan of Quincy; a grandson, Riley Grant Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Beth (Bill) Paulek of Springfield, IL, Anna Lee (Tom) Fenger of Bloomington, IL, and Maureen (Mak) Makarewicz of Quincy; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Trish Cook) Cox of St. Joseph, MO, and Tom (Andi) Cox of Morton, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Brent was preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws, Richard and Elizabeth Cox. Services: 11:00 am, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Father Adam Prichard officiating. Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday May 29, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Memorials: Richard and Elizabeth Cox Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame or to the family
