Bio     Sharon LaVon "Sis" Gricher, 65, of Independence, Mo., passed away Aug. 3, 2018, surrounded by her family. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Contributions made to Bailey's Foundation to help local children and their families as they fight cancer: US Bank, 701 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Sharon was born Nov. 26, 1952, in Independence, Mo. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1971. She worked numerous places but her favorites were Broome Cadillac and the Truman Sports Complex. Her world revolved around her grandchildren and son, Scooter. She spent her time at her grandchildren's basketball games, cheerleading and any of their other sporting events. She was also very active with Bailey's Foundation as a member of the Golf Tournament Fund raiser committee. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Harold Langford; mother, Mary Jo Gard; step-father, Dwight Gard; sister, Linda Sue Baker; paternal grandparents, Frank and Pearl Langford; and maternal grandparents, Ernie and Virginia Parish. Sharon is survived by her son, Scooter Gricher; nephew who she thought of as a son, Shane Dunnam and wife, Sara, Independence; significant other, Donnie Hershburger, Independence; brother, Harold Langford, Blue Springs; sisters, Brenda Bradford, Bossier City, La., Lisa Hammond, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lisa Young and husband, Red, Independence; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kassadee, Truman and Amber; and many nieces and nephews.
