Bio | Dennis Clarke Mayeaux died on March 3, 2021 at the age of 69. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 27, 1952 and lived in the Kansas City area his entire lifetime. He was predeceased by his father, William Mayeaux and his sister, Eileen Manes. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Mayeaux, and five siblings and their families; his wife of almost 49 years, Terri Mayeaux; his daughter, Jessica; and his grandson, Clarke. For the majority of his career, Dennis was a restaurant and retail sales manager. He retired after five years as an independent operator for Bimbo Bread Company. Dennis loved sports and was a Chiefs and Royals fan. As a youngster, he played baseball and loved swimming. In high school, he was on the track and swim teams. He also enjoyed playing golf. As much as he loved sports, though, music was his passion. Over the years, Dennis sang for many area church services, special programs, and for other organizations. While at UMKC, Dennis was a member of the Swinging Choraliers, which gave him the opportunity to perform for US troops through the USO. The first tour in 1972 was the Northern Command (Iceland, Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland) plus home stays through People to People in Denmark and the Netherlands. The second USO tour in 1974 focused on Army and Air Force bases throughout Germany. Visitation is Monday, March 8, at Charter Funerals, 5000 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City, MO 64133, at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service is Tuesday, March 9, at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064 at 10:00 a.m. Following the funeral, a graveside commitment service will be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery, 614 S. Brookside Ave., Independence, MO 64053.
While the family wants to have all who knew and loved Dennis attend one or both services, attendance in services is limited due to current COVID restrictions.
