| Bio | Evelyn Elaine Smith, 72 of Leeton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her home.
Evelyn was born October 2, 1951 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa; the daughter of George W. and Doris (Thompson) Evans. Her family moved to Independence when she was young. She graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence. Upon graduating, Evelyn became employed with Southwestern Bell, now known as AT&T. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Smith on July 10, 1970 in Independence. The couple moved to the St. Louis area that same year. In 2007, they returned to Independence and have resided near Leeton since 2016. Evelyn retired from AT&T. She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, shopping and reading.
Survivors include her husband: Tom; daughter: Nina Smith; two sons: Benjamin Smith and Nathan Smith, all of Leeton; and sister: Vickie Evans of Independence. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Brian Smith and two brothers: James Evans and Jon Evans.
