Bio | LaVaun Kay (Dunn-Brown) Duke, 53, Independence, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at the Medical Center of Independence. Mrs. Duke was born Feb. 28, 1951, in Kansas City, and had lived in Independence for more than 30 years. She was a computer programmer for 18 years for Percy Kent Bag, Kansas City, retiring in May 1998. She was a member of Blue Ridge Boulevard Christian Church. Her survivors include her husband, Eddie Duke, and a son, Sean Brown, both of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Mark White, Independence; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Agan, Blue Springs; a stepson, Wayne Duke and wife, Tiffany, North Kansas City; a stepdaughter, Tracy Hamilton and husband, Jacob, Independence; and seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Christian, Aaron, Taralynn, Blake Agan, Brittany and Breanna. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Beacon Heights Community of Christ, 19402 E. Holke Road, Independence.
