Steven Franklin Coil, D.D.S., died Sunday, September 2, 1990, as the result of injuries received in a small plane accident in Belleville, at the age of 39 years, three months and 26 days.
Dr. Coil was born May 7, 1951, at Independence, Mo., to Franklin and Eula Barrett Coil. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, ant the University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Dentistry, and had lived in Mankato since 1978. He practiced dentistry in Mankato, Belleville, and Beloit.
He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Flying Dentist Association, the Second RLDS Church of Independence, Mo., and attended the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato.
Also killed in the accident was his son, Brendan.
Dr. Coil's survivors include his wife, Marilyn of the home; son, Aaron, and daughter, Kristen, both of the home; his parents, Franklin and Eula Coil of Independence, Mo.; brother, Wayne of Kansas City, Mo.; and sister, Janna Scott of Independence, Mo.
Funeral services were held Thursday September 6, at the Mankato Junior-Senior High School, conducted by Pastors Ernie Larsen and Duane Holst. Interment was in West Lutheran Cemetery Mankato.
