Bio     Rosalie Ann Bagnell Rosalie Ann Bagnell, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022. She was 71. Rosalie was born to Allen and Shirley Claibourn on December 21, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Van Horn High School and married her best friend, Gregory Thirstrup in 1968. Rosalie was a hard worker, she dedicated many years working to prepare meals in the cafeteria for the public schools and North Kansas City hospital. She was a selfless woman and enjoyed spending her time caring for others. She'd often take trips to Pomme De Terre lake with her family to camp and fish. She was a very inspiring person, while overcoming obstacles with being 98% deaf, Rosalie never skipped a beat. She was very good at reading lips. Rosalie loved to dance, sing, listen to music and watch her favorite shows on tv such as the Hallmark channel, the Golden Girls and Criminal Minds. Popcorn, cheese slices, peanut clusters, m&m's and Boston baked beans were some of her go to snacks as she enjoyed reading her romance novels. Rosalie was a member of St. Ann Catholic church for years and devoted many hours volunteering in their youth ministry. She was also an incredible seamstress. Rosalie's kind heart and witty sense of humor will be missed greatly by her friends and family. She is survived by her children, Dawn Smith (Sam), Brandi Davis, Joe Thirstrup (Clarissa Shephard), Neil Thirstrup (Hollie) and Stephen Bagnell; sisters, Martha Feltrop and Jaqueline Adkins; brother, Ronald Claibourn and 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gregory; parents, 2 brothers, sister, grandson and great granddaughter. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 14th from 9-11am at St. Ann Parish in Independence, Missouri. Mass will begin at 11am with burial to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. 5/1/2024 / 1:00:00 PM - Jerry R. Williams, nationally recognized sculptor, artist and Professor Emeritus, University of Oregon will make a major gift to Van Horn High School. Jerry is a VH Alumni (1960) and will be gifting a Falcon sculpture he created to VH at this time. All school alumni are welcome to attend.
