Mark Brooks, 57, of Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away, Sunday morning, April 12, 2009, at his residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 39th Street and M-291 Highway. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, Cancer Connection Ministry or to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710. Mark was born May 10, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., to Herbert D. and Mary (Chastain) Brooks and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Van Horn High School in 1969. He had worked as a real estate broker and investor. He was a member of Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and playing cards. He was married to Jean Hendrix on June 25, 1971; she survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Jeff Brooks and his wife Jennifer of Lee's Summit; a daughter, Jennifer Brooks of Kansas City; his parents, Herbert and Mary Brooks of Kansas City; two sisters, Vicki Boyd of Kansas City, and Carolyn Brooks and her husband Tim Falk of Atchison, Kan.; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Beverly Hendrix; two grandchildren, twins Aidan and Ella Brooks and numerous lifelong friends.
