Richard “Rick” Lee Ahring, 72, of Independence, Missouri completed his earthly journey and was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on May 24, 1951, to James and Thelma (Sims) Ahring in Kansas City, Missouri.
Rick was married to his wife, Margie Wallace, for 48 years. They were blessed with 2 sons 21 months apart. Those were busy years with Rick working construction and Margie hospital shifts in order for one parent to be home with their boys. Rick owned and operated Rick Ahring Construction Services. Rick and Margie have been a part of Cornerstone Church for 30 years.
Rick’s dream to own land was realized when he acquired acreage and built the homestead known as the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary was a special place for family and friends to hunt, fish, build bon fires, ride four-wheelers and explore the woods. Rick was a passionate deer and turkey hunter. He enjoyed coaching soccer and instilled the love of the game in his sons and grandchildren. Rick was happiest spending time with family at “Papa’s farm.”
Rick is survived by his loving wife Margie Ahring of the home; sons, Daniel Ahring and wife Ashley of Overland Park, Kansas; Andrew Ahring and his wife Leigh of Blue Springs Missouri; grandchildren, Nolan and Adelyn Ahring ; Will, Thomas and Kyle Ahring; brother Bob Ahring and wife Pam of Warrensburg, Missouri.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Ahring.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the love and support given to them during Rick’s cancer journey. A special thanks to Dr. Brian Osgood and Peggy RN at KU Oncology, Kim Scire RN at Kansas City Hospice and the Staff at Kansas City Hospice House. |
