Bio | Claudia May Cappo, 71, passed away August 23, 2023.
Claudia was born November 11, 1951, to Edwin and E. “Jean” Caldwell in Kansas City MO. She attended Van Horn High School. In 1969. she married Paul Cappo and from that union they had a son followed by a daughter. She was a homemaker who was active in church, PTA, and school activities and delighted in being home with her children. She became a widow the young age of 28. She remained single and made raising her two children her sole purpose and only priority. In her later years she was excited to become a grandma to her five grandchildren and was overjoyed watching them grow into adults.
Claudia was a talented artist from freehand drawing, painting, craft, sewing and decorating. As a child while sitting with her class outside President Truman’s home, painting a picture of Truman’s house, the President came out to look at the children’s artwork and offered to buy her painting. Over the years she was recognized countless times for her art. This talent only grew over the years. Claudia worked at Seasonal Concepts for over 20 years in sales and on the holiday decorating team which later turned into a side business of her own decorating family homes, churches, and businesses such as Farmland, Bank of America, Commerce Bank, area hospitals and many more. Most of her customers became close friends. She made friends easily everywhere she went with her beautiful smile, loyal personality, and no non-sense attitude. As her children became adults she started traveling more so over the last three years of her life with many family cruises which she enjoyed the most and other destinations. Weeks before her passing she was talking about plans for more upcoming trips.
