Bio     Steven Albert Walters, 64, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on February 27, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Friday March 4 at Langsford Funeral Home from 10-12pm, service at 12pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Floral Hills East Cemetery. Steve was born August 14, 1951 in KCMO to Clifford and Vivian Walters. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1969 and attended Longview Community College. From 1970-1974 he served in the Navy during Vietnam, earning the Combat Action Medal and the Naval Achievement Medal with Combat "V" authorized. This award is received in recognition of meritorious service while placed in imminent danger. On August 8, 1986, Steve married Debbie. They lived in Lee's Summit for over 30 years in a home Steve built with his father. He worked more than 20 years at Honeywell managing their hazardous waste program. In October of 1997, Steve realized his life-long dream, went to Golf-Smith school and opened his own golf store, Pin High Golf. This was a labor of love as he instructed and mentored the golfing community in eastern Jackson County for more than 15 years. When the shop was open, you would find Steve and his African Grey Parrot "Three Putt" ready to greet you with a smile and a funny story, along with a tremendous amount of knowledge about golf. Steve traveled the country, participating in and winning golf tournaments. This background and experience made him a valuable asset to those who walked through the door of Pin High Golf who wanted to know more about the game he loved. He lived a full life in his short time on Earth. He loved his family, laughter, and joy which was a part of his daily life. He earned his private pilot's license, belonged to a flying club, hang glided, archery, and bowling. He loved fast cars and motorcycles and owned both. He hunted with his beloved stepsons, collected baseball cards and thrived in his favorite role as Grandpa. Steve is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Debbie; daughters, Stephanie (Daniel) Harris and their children, Jackson, Jacob, and Emma Kate, and Kelli (Clif) Holliefield and their children, Eli, Noah, Kai; stepsons, Bryan (Dawn) Noland and Justin (Ashley) Noland and their child, Miller; sister, Terrie (Jeff) Bauer; and brother, Larry Walters (Robin Bracken). Everything in life Steve approached with passion. His many, many close friends will miss him as he will miss them. Arrangements by Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, MO.
