Bio | Gayle Ellen McGinley, 60, Independence, Mo., went to her final place of rest with the Lord peacefully March 11, 2012, at her home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 18301 Salisbury Road, Independence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Furry Kids Refuge, PO Box 1442, Lee's Summit, MO 64063. Gayle graduated from Van Horn High School in 1969. She worked for Independence Regional Hospital for 17 years, Lee's Summit Hospital for four years, and St. Luke's Hospital for one year. Gayle was known for her kind and gentle spirit, her hardworking nature, and her tireless efforts to always put her family first, even before herself. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Smith (1981), her father, William Smith, (2003), and her brother, Ronnie Smith (2004). Survivors include her husband, Jim McGinley, 65; brother, Gary Smith, 63; sister, Bonnie Smith, 55; daughter, Heather McGinley, 31; son, Kris McGinley, 35; daughter-in-law, Cassandra McGinley, 33; granddaughter, Brianna McGinley, 7; granddaughter, Adilynn McGinley, 5; several nieces and nephews, several brother and sisters-in-law; and beloved dog, Jasper. Gayle will always be loved and missed. She worked hard all her life and has so much to show for it. Her loving smile will be echoed in the laughter of her grandkids.
