Bio | Kenneth Rex Burkhart, age 59, completed his earthly journey after a long and
gallant battle with pancreatic cancer, early Monday morning, January 5,
2009, at his home near Warsaw, Missouri. He was born on June 3, 1949, in
Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Kenneth Leroy and Betty Jo Eidson
Burkhart.
He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1968. After graduation he worked
for Vendo, and then spent the next twenty seven years working for Allis
Chalmers in Independence, until the plant closed in 2000. In 2002 he moved
to Warsaw, Missouri, where he worked for Tracker Marine for a year, before
going to work for the City of Warsaw until health issues forced him to
retire. He was a handy man extraordinaire, and he loved working on antique
tractors, engines, and his favorite passion n old cars and trucks. He looked
forward to deer hunting with his sons every fall, and enjoyed working in his
yard in the summer. He was a dedicated Mason and Shriner, and loved helping
the children. He was a member of Independence Lodge #76, the Warsaw Shrine
Club and the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. One of his proudest
moments was seeing his youngest son become a Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by his wife, of twenty-six years, Joy (Bowman) Burkhart,
sons, Brian Ralph Burkhart, and his wife, Jacquie (Cates), of Independence;
Bradley Ray Burkhart, and his wife, Mary Beth (Schieber), of Cameron;
Kenneth Michael Burkhart, of Sedalia; and his grandchildren, Katy Burkhart
and Kaleb Burkhart, of Florida. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Jo
Burkhart, sister, Lynn Crewse, and her husband, Vess; and nephew, Scott
Crewse, all of Blue Springs, Missouri, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services and Masonic Rites were held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday
morning, January 7, 2009, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.
Grave Side Committal Services were held Wednesday, at the Macks Creek
Cemetery, Macks Creek, Missouri. |
