Bio | Carl D. (Butch) Anderson, age 62, of Independence, Mo., passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Kansas City Mo. Veterans Administration Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10AM on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the McGilley and Sheil Funeral Home 11924 E. 47th St. KCMO. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 9-10 am on Friday. Butch was born January 4, 1949 in Kansas City, Mo, to Carl and Ruth Anderson. He was a 1968 Graduate of Van Horn High School and joined the US Army in January of 1969. He was Honorably Discharged in 1975, having attained the rank of SP5. He served valiantly in Vietnam from July 13, 1969 to July 9, 1970 as an Air Crew Chief with Troop 14 of the Air Calvary. His service awards include the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (2 awards), Aircraft Crewman's Badge, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Butch retired from Honeywell after 20 years and loved to fish and hunt with his son. He is survived by Terry, his wife of 31 years, his aforementioned son Carl D. Anderson, 2 Daughters Laura Ulreich (Curt) and Leslie Johnson (Jared), his mother Ruth Anderson, 2 brothers Rick and Curt and 6 grandchildren Bobby, Rachael, Tyler, Jake, Logan, and Josh. He was preceded in death by his father Carl.
