Bio | JAN NIEMANN 12/08/1949 - 03/22/2025 Jan Niemann, 75, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center from liver complications. Born on December 8, 1949, Jan grew up with a deep love for her family and friends. She graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1967 alongside her high school sweetheart, Ron Niemann. They were married in 1968. Jan dedicated over two decades to Blue Springs School District, where she made a lasting impact on countless students with her kindness and compassion. She began as a lunch lady and an active PTA president while her children were in school, before transitioning into a role as a teacher's assistant in the special education classroom. Jan was also known for her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Across the Midwest, at various craft shows, she would set up booths showcasing her artistic abilities with handmade crafts and antiques. Jan cherished traveling the country with friends, often making stops at antique malls to explore hidden treasures like blue impression dishes and stoneware. She was always excited to share when she'd found a "new" Coach purse. Jan and Ron would often go to car shows in their '55 or '37 Chevy. She was also a dedicated softball wife, frequently found behind home plate keeping scorebooks or in the bleachers cheering on the team. She never missed a game, dance recital, or band concert. Additionally, she enjoyed trips to the casino, and more often than not, you could find her on a winning slot machine. Friday nights were reserved for dinners, drives through the park counting deer, and Yahtzee with friends. She would always share huge plates of homemade Christmas candy - a tradition that brought warmth to the holiday season. Her love for decorating extended beyond Christmas; she took great pride in adorning her home for every holiday and season, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all who visited. She found joy in the simple pleasures that brought friends together, where laughter and love could be felt in the air. Jan's greatest pride came from her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ron Niemann, of 56 years; her children, Eric Niemann (Kim) and Shannon Niemann (Cameron); grandchildren Nick Niemann (Catherine), Colby Welch (Evelyn), Ryan Niemann (Kenzie), Michaela, Cale, and Mila; and great-grandchildren Annelae, Eleanor, Heidi, and Nicholas Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Edith (Lloyd) Nichelson, as well as her brother Jack Nichelson. Those who knew Jan will fondly remember her infectious laugh and radiant smile that could brighten any room. She will be remembered for the countless ways she made life better for those around her.
