Bio | Clarence R. "Mac" McGinnis III, 56, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 21, 2005. Mr. McGinnis was born in Wall Street, Mo., but resided in Independence, Mo., for most of his life. He was a proud veteran, who served his country during the Vietnam War. He retired from the General Motors Corp. in 2003, and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 31. He lived his later life devoted to his wife and family. His mother, Ruby, preceded him in death in 1996. He leaves behind his father, C.R. McGinnis Jr., stepmother, Barbara; his wife, partner and friend of 29 years, Diana McGinnis of Independence; two sons, Michael McGinnis of Oak Grover, and George Brewster, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Jennifer Johnson of Blue Springs, and Ronnie Rowland of the home; 11 grandchildren; his siblings, sister, Mary Smith, and two brothers, Raymond and David McGinnis of Independence; stepsister, Melodye Nicholls, and stepbrother, Brian Foster, and his lifelong friend, Larry Harris of Independence, and Ralph Smith; and a brother-in-law that was like a brother, of Sibley. He leaves behind a loving family that will never forget his kind and generous heart and nature. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City, (816) 353-1218. He will be laid to rest in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Donations are suggested to his charity of choice, the Cancer society, in honor of his mother. Published in the Examiner 0n 5/23/3005. |
