Bio     Richard Lynn Baker, 69, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, in Excelsior Springs, MO. Graveside service will be held at Polley Cemetery on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 1p in Wood Heights. Richard was born May 4, 1949. He is the son of the late Ainsley and the late Autolean (Smith) Baker. He married Orilla Pate on February 14, 1996 in Richmond, Missouri. Together, they shared 22 years of marriage. He was employed by UPS as a package driver for 30 years and retired from UPS in 2005. Richard enjoyed restoring antiques, including cars. He frequently spent time going to car shows. He loved to take trips to Branson, Missouri. Richard believed that his grand-daughter, Kelsey, was the “apple of his eye.” Family was most important to Richard. He loved them very much. Richard will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife: Orilla (Pate) Baker; one son: Corey Kellogg and wife Jocelyn; one daughter: Gyna Shipley and her husband Kelly; one grand-daughter Kelsey Kirsch and her husband Rich; and one brother: Terry Baker and his wife Karen; also, his mother-in-law Myrtle Pate; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his father-in-law Robert Pate.

I am married with one son and one granddaughter. I have a 31 DeSoto street rod. Retired from UPS after 30 yrs. in 2005. In March 10, 2012 I had a stroke. left me paralized on the left side. In a wheelchair. getting therapy 2xs aweek.
