Bio | William Michael (Mike) Williams was born April 13, 1948, in Chillicothe, Mo., and passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family February 11, 2018. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1966 graduate of Van Horn High School. Mike was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War as a flight engineer, and will be rendered full military honors. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local Union 1464, retiring as a substation operation electrician after 32 years with the Kansas City Power & Light Company. He was a member of VFW Post 9638 (Galmey, Mo.) where he was proud to serve on the honor guard, recognizing the sacrifice of other war veterans.
Mike is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (Jeanne) Williams; daughter Erin (Korey) and granddaughter Sunny Luttrell of Raytown, Mo.; son Ivan (Shanan) and granddaughters Isabella, Ashlyn and Reese Williams of Wheatland, Mo.; and son Clayton, grandson Aidan and granddaughter Nova Williams of Independence, Mo. Also, brother Kelly Williams of Edwards, Mo., sister Patty Williams and brother Doug Williams both of Independence, Mo.
Mike leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Billy Louvan and Hilda Ruth Williams.
Mike chose to be cremated and a service will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Mo., Thursday, February 15, followed by a visitation 4-7 p.m. He will be placed to rest at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 25, 2-4 p.m., at the Sheet Metal Workers’ union hall, 2902 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Mo.
