Bio     July 16, 1947 - March 27, 2014 Frances Hughes Rigg, 66, of Gladstone, passed away March 27, 2014, after a difficult battle with colon cancer. Frankie is survived by her husband, David Rigg; her daughter, Susan Lee and husband Tony Lee of Liberty, Mo., son, Jeff Rigg of Austin, Texas, and daughter, Amy Thompson and husband Kris Thompson of Boulder, Colo. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Rachel Lee, James Lee, Alexander Rigg, Blake Thompson and Ava Thompson. Frankie also leaves behind her older sister, Carole Blackmore of Independence, Mo., and her nieces and nephew, Cheryl Blackmore, Wendi Blackmore and Bryce Blackmore along with his two daughters, Alivia and Addison. Frankie was born to Raymond and Olive Mae Hughes and grew up in Independence with her sister Carole. She graduated from Van Horn High School, where she was a cheerleader, member of the Literary Society, and an enthusiastic member of the reunion committee. Frankie later graduated from Missouri Western State College with a degree in Business Administration. She retired five years ago from the Social Security Administration. Frankie was a loving, caring, generous and funny person who always thought of others. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She delighted in attending all of their recitals, plays, concerts, little league and high school games, and graduations. Frankie was a member Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she made the most incredible lifelong friendships with an amazing group of women. Frankie loved to do for others, whether it was making elaborate desserts for friends, volunteering at her grandkids' school or finding the perfect gift for her many friends and family members. Christmas was Frankie's favorite holiday and she enjoyed making ornaments and decorating her house for the holidays, calling her house "sequin city." She was also a voracious reader and could often be found curled up under a quilt with a book in hand, best yet with a puppy snuggled up next to her. Frankie was known for her fashion and her many hats and "statement" jewelry pieces. She was never shy to don an elaborate costume for a party or event. Frankie was also a huge fan of Chris Isaak, attending many of his concerts; his music lifted her spirits even through her battle with cancer. Frankie was dearly loved by her family and many friends and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the National Airline History Museum, located at the downtown airport, 201 NW Lou Holland Drive, Kansas City, MO 64116.
