Linda Sue DeMint, age 69, of Carrollton, Missouri, went to be with her beloved David; her cowboy in Heaven; when she peacefully passed away, on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Life Care Center in Carrollton, Missouri.
Linda was the daughter of Howard W. and Mary J. (Wells) Hensley, born on April 7, 1947 in Elkhart, Kansas. She graduated from Van Horn High School in Kansas City, Missouri with the Class of 1965. Linda married the love of her life, David Ellis DeMint, on October 18, 1969 in Independence, Missouri.
In her younger years, she was a professional model for Harzfeld's in Kansas City, Missouri. Linda was a very gifted and talented artist who enjoyed oil painting. She felt honored to have been commissioned by Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Missouri, to design and paint seven of their Christmas Ornaments. When Linda was forty-five years old, she learned to horseback ride, a passion that she and her husband shared for a number of years. They enjoyed and looked forward to participating in the Wagon Train, traveling from Emmett, Missouri to Lexington, Missouri. She was an outgoing, fun loving person, who never met a stranger and was dearly loved by all who knew her. Although she had no children of her own, she dearly loved every child she met, and treated them as if they were her very own. Linda was a member of the First Christian Church in Carrollton, Missouri.
Linda is survived by two sisters, Margaret Bray and husband Jim, of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Patricia Harris and husband Ricky, of Independence, Missouri; her dearest Janene Martin, and husband Lonnie, of Carrollton, Missouri, who she considered the daughter she never had; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, "adopted" children; and many, many dear friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and wonderful husband David, on June 13, 2008. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North US 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, where she will be laid to rest for eternity, with her "beloved cowboy", David. For those who would like to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests they be made to H.E.L.P. Services Cancer Fund or Shriners Hospital For Crippled Children in memory of Linda.
