Vickie was born March 11, 1947, in Kansas City to Clyde and Kathryn Hampton. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1965, and worked as an operator for AT&T for nine years. After meeting David Miller on a blind date in 1967, they were married June 15, 1968, in Lawrence, Kan., and eventually settled in the northland area of Kansas City. A devoted wife of 39 years, the loving mother of four daughters and wonderful grandmother of six grandsons and four granddaughters, a gifted teacher, active church member, full-time homemaker, and faithful friend, Vickie always sought ways to enhance the lives of others, whether it was organizing staff for the church nursery, educating students in high school Spanish, utilizing her sewing talents for someone in need, or simply gathering the grandkids and reading them a story. In 2000, she and David started an orphanage in Trujillo, Peru, where she served as administrator of volunteers and supervisor of scores of orphans who loved her dearly. She also ensured provision of good, biblical Spanish literature for various Peruvian pastors and church leaders. Through the grace of Jesus Christ her Savior, Vickie manifested triumphant faith through the course of her life, and despite affliction, finished victoriously on Nov. 23, 2007. Vickie is survived by her husband, David S. Miller of the home; daughters: Cathie Lynn Stone and her husband Kenton of Kansas City, Melinda Ann Janssen and her husband, Benjamin of Oklahoma City, Okla., Carrie Sue Miller of Kansas City, and Lisa K. Miller of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, John R. Hampton and wife Kathy. Arr.: Charter Funerals (816) 921-5555.
