Bio | Mariea Fay Borges - age 77 of Gallatin, MO passed away Saturday morning December 28, 2024 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Mariea was born on September 5, 1947, the daughter of Jack DeWain and Vivian Lavern (Moss) Gibbens in Gallatin, MO. She grew up in Independence where she met her future husband, Jim Borges. She was a 1965 graduate of Van Horn High School. She then attended cosmetology school and worked as a beautician. She was united in marriage to James Timothy Borges on August 17th, 1973. They eventually returned to the family farm near Gallatin She was the head cook at the Active Aging Resource Center in Gallatin for many years. It was a job she enjoyed. Mariea was renowned for her cooking and always cooked for an army. She was best known for her cinnamon rolls and pies. Mariea was happy go lucky and enjoyed life. She lived for her grandchildren. Mariea will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mariea was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Phyllis Gibbens. She is survived by her husband Jim Borges of Gallatin, MO; son, Jeremy Borges (Kim) of Gallatin, MO; two grandchildren, Hannah Borges and Brody of Gallatin, MO; sister, Pam Ingram (Tony) of UT; nieces, Abby Ingram of UT, Josie Ingram of UT; nephews, Josh Ingram of Lawrence, KS, and Cole Ingram (Marlene) of UT; other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Active Aging Senior Center in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Mariea's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Gallatin First Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, the evening prior at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
